New Roof on Madison's Northside

Challenge

This home on Madison's Northside had a roof from the 1990's. The shingles started showing signes of age with granule loss and some cracking. There were also a few soft spots which meant some of the decking (layer of plywood-like boards) was rotting. 

It's important for shingles to be in good shape to protect against the elements. Granule loss can accelerate the aging of shingles and expose the asphalt to the sun and moisture. Once moisture passes through the shingles, it can infiltrate the layers below. The decking may start to rot and eventually cause a leak. 

Solution

Badgerland Exteriors tore off the failing shingles and underlayment. A few rotting OSB (similar to plywood) boards were replaced prior to laying the protective underlayment and shingles.
